New Book by Ashley Carse on the Panama Canal: Beyond the Big Ditch | The MIT Press
This new book by Ashley Carse is of vital importance for its empirical content on the Panama Canal but also to theoretically understand how to link the local and global, and to do this through vibrant and living ecologies. Ashely is currently working with Joshua Lewis, who is my co-worker, on a paper that links their mutual and passionate interest of shipping, ecologies and history—with Ashley's account of Panama to Joshua's account of New Orleans as a major port city which peopels and ecologies have been influenced by the building and widening of the Panama Canal. In the meantime, read this great book by Ashley
